Sometimes, the key to success is knowing when to turn the page to face new challenges. After an accomplished career in the public sector, which included the management of multimillion and even billion-dollar contracts, Yvette Merriman-Garrett flipped the page to become a real estate agent. Raised in San Francisco, Yvette was called to the City of Angels shortly after graduating from high school to earn degrees in business management and school business management.
Despite Yvette’s father and brother being real estate professionals for decades, she declined to join their company during college so she could prove herself outside of the family business. Yet she knew deep down that it was an industry where her skills and values, like integrity, empathy, negotiating, and strategic planning belonged. She draws from her experience as a director in contracts administration to resolve issues facing first-time homebuyers.
Yvette wants underserved and minority communities to know that financial freedom can be a reality with the right strategy in place. Although she is aware that not everybody will qualify for home financing right away, there is still hope on the horizon with federal programs for assistance.
When Yvette isn’t using her diverse skills to promote the benefits of homeownership, she enjoys dining, cooking, traveling, exercising, and spending quality time with friends and family.
